Adidas from Herzogenaurach commissioned us to photograph the world’s largest brand flagship store “adidas NYC” in October 2016 before opening on December 1, 2016. Yeah, we’re going to New York for work and pleasure!
The New York Job From – 24 26.11.2016, alongside a few craftsmen, cleaners and a film crew, we were almost alone in the roughly 3,000-square-foot, three-story store at the corner of 5th Avenue and 46th Street. Grandstands with big screens, changing rooms in the style of stadium locker rooms from top teams, a career track for testing the products, fitness advice, a bar with healthy juices and snacks, and more include Adidas “new retail concept called Stadium”. When entering the business, the customer immerses immediately in the world of sports. This atmosphere of typical high school stadiums had to be documented in pictures.
The pleasure in New York My assistant Clarissa and I, travelled to New York on 20.11.2016 to go on a photo tour. Time was short, the return flight on 27.11.2016 had already been booked. Thanks to jet lag, a few shots were taken on the very first day of the morning, which I had already taken 23 years ago in the same places.
New York is pure inspiration There are so many places and sights to look at in New York. We ran bubbles to our feet in the few days off, criss-crossed the New York subway, ate delicious in the Meatpacking District and were thrilled with the many ideas of New Yorkers and the city itself.

The Brooklyn Bridge The Brooklyn Bridge, completed in 1883, is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. It spans the East River and connects the neighborhoods of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge now has six lanes as well as a wide footpath and bike path in the plain above. Here you have to walk across the bridge and enjoy the view over the East River to Manhattan.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Under the Brooklyn Bridge is Brooklyn Bridge Park and next door is Brooklyn Heights. The area was designated New York City’s first Historic District in 1965. From here you have the best view of the Manhattan skyline. The fitness-loving New Yorkers walk their laps through Brooklyn Bridge Park past the Brooklyn Heights Promenade here.
From Pier 11/Wall Street to Williamsburg Bridge Take the East River Ferry from Pier 11 to North Williamsburg. The boat trip along the East River under the three bridges Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge offers magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline.
Pershing Square – breakfast in Midtown in the heart of NYC Pleasant diner, especially highly recommended for breakfast. Super location, just across the street from Grand Central Station. Known from the film “Friends with Benefits,” starring Mila kunis and Justin Timberlake. Grand Central Station For every New York visitor, Grand Central Station is a must-see. Since 1998, the Grand Central Station has shone back in full splendour after 8 years of refurbishment and $600 million in costs. She celebrated her 100th birthday in 2013. Every day, almost 600,000 people use the station as a transport hub. On the lower floor are many restaurants, shops and the food market of Grand Central Station. Central Park New Yorkers love Central Park and its quiet squares in the middle of Manhattan. With its 340 hectares in size, it is a popular meeting place for all. About 15 million visitors a year use the extensive green spaces and lakes for picnicking, fishing, boating, playing and relaxing. Sports enthusiasts are happy about the many baseball and softball courts as well as several basketball courts and for cultural enthusiasts, the many concerts in Central Park are an absolute highlight.
Flatiron Building The Flatiron Building in New York is undoubtedly one of the city’s most distinctive skyscrapers. The floor plan of the building is a triangle and resembles the shape of an iron – hence the name “Flatiron.” Designed and built in 1902 by architect Daniel Burn, it stands right at the intersection of 5th Avenue, Broadway and 23rd Street streets. National 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero & World Trade Center The 9/11 Memorial is a memorial to the nearly 3,000 people who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 in New York. The two pools of the 9/11 Memorial are exactly where the Twin Tower originally stood. Because of the pools, the memorial is also called “Reflecting Absence” – “Be aware of what’s missing.” The names of all the victims were written on bronze slabs around the two pools of water. Entry of the 9/11 Memorial is free, there are no opening hours. It is particularly beautiful in the evening, then the two pools are illuminated. Address: Liberty Street, New York City, NY 10006
